UCEAP- Programme Officer Ireland

Posted at the University College Dublin, Belfield Campus, and working under the direction of the UCEAP UK/Ireland Resident Director located in Edinburgh, incumbent serves as the first point of contact for general student inquiries and as the primary academic and student services advisor for assigned programs (ensuring that students adhere to both UC and partner academic program requirements). The Programme Officer is responsible for communicating with students, host institutions, and the central UCEAP office on program administration, policies and procedures, requirements and student welfare related issues; plans and implements student events and orientations. Participates in an emergency response on-call rotation.

Base Salary: Gross €35,000 - €38,000
Contract: 3 year fixed-term with possibility of renewal
Hours: Full-time (39 hours/week)

Knowledge and Skills (typically required of the position)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, multicultural competencies, and ability to work with diverse populations.

  • Strong communication skills; professional English writing/speaking skills; skill in obtaining and conveying information clearly and with accuracy.

  • Demonstrated ability to listen, learn, and build trust among faculty, staff, and students.

  • Previous customer service experience.

  • Experience organizing events or other similar activities.

  • Sound judgement, with decision-making and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrable experience supporting and providing student services in an administrative role; knowledge of advising and counseling techniques; ability to assess and give appropriate referrals.

  • Experience interpreting and applying government or other organizational policies, requirements, or regulations.

  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.

  • Knowledge about current safety, security, and health issues, as they affect students abroad.

  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative, prioritize and adjust to varying workloads, manage a variety of tasks and meet various deadlines with changing priorities, interruptions and conflicting deadlines.

  • Knowledge of the structure and organization of Irish higher education system.

  • Proficient in MS Office, including MS Teams and SharePoint or similar operating system; ability to apply and/or adapt current procedures to an increasingly automated environment.

Desirable

  • Experience studying or living abroad.

  • Administration experience in a higher education environment

  • Knowledge of the structure and organization of U.S. higher education.

  • Experience working with a data management system.

Education and Training

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent related experience/training.

Special Conditions

  • Must have legal authority to work in Ireland.

  • Must be available to travel 0-10%, work occasional evenings and weekends, and participate in an after-hours on-call rotation to respond to student emergencies.

  • Satisfactory completion of a background check is required.
